Gooch-&-Housego.jpgThe VHE Q-switch developed by Gooch & Housego PLC for use in high-gain, high-power, linearly polarized Nd:YAG and Nd:YVO4 lasers has a patent-pending acousto-optical design that provides better than 95% single-pass loss modulation. Alignment of the acoustics eliminates rediffraction of the light into the zeroth order, and an RF driver eliminates the timing jitter that results from a phase mismatch between two Q-switches. Proprietary Sure-Flow corrosion-resistant treatment enables efficient water-cooling. The switch operates from 1047 to 1064 nm with a rise and fall time of 109 ns/mm and can accommodate up to 100 W of continuous-wave RF power. Typical damage threshold is 2 GW/cm2.
