Supplier Altos Photonics said a new laser system from Light Conversion expands the meaning of “one box solution.” Pharos is a femtosecond laser with all of the essential components of a chirped pulse amplification (CPA) concept-based system. With the pulse duration approaching that of a regular Ti:Sapphire laser diode pump, robustness and compactness makes Pharos suitable for most advanced research and real-world applications.

Features include:
  • <170 fs pulses
  • Average power 4 W
  • Flexibility in repetition rate 1 to 400 kHz
  • Single sealed package
  • Interchangeable pump modules
  • Broad range of frequency conversion options (harmonic generators, OPA)
  • Short warm-up
  • Low running and maintenance costs

Altos is a Bozeman, Mont.-based distributor for  Eksam, Ekspla, TMC, Standa and Light Conversion, a Lithuania-based  spinoff of Vilnius University Laser Research Center and a producer of continuous wavelength tunable ultrafast light sources based on Topas optical parametric amplifiers and frequency mixers.
