Wedge Multipass Amplifier

The Wedge multipass amplifier is a high-energy multipass Ti:sapphire amplifier with an adjustable repetition rate (10-Hz, 100-Hz and 1-kHz versions available). It delivers energy per pulse of >1.0 mJ, with pulse durations of <50 fs and a bandwidth of >40 nm. A specially designed wedge-shaped Ti:sapphire crystal is used as the gain medium, reducing system size and allowing for dynamic adjustment of the gain medium for efficient use of the pump energy.

The Wedge amplifier can be configured with an integrated seed laser or as a standalone unit for an existing pulsed Ti:sapphire laser, such as the Trestles Ti:sapphire laser. The system includes a Faraday isolator, pulse picker, grating stretcher/compresser, amplifier stage and synchronization electronics. In addition, custom design and manufacturing and installation of amplified systems up to the multiterawatt and petawatt level is provided.

The amplified Ti:sapphire system provides high-energy, high-contrast ultrafast pulses that can vary from single-shot to kHz repetition rates. Its modular design can be customized to meet customer requirements.

Wedge amplifiers are suitable for pumping both visible and infrared optical parametric amplifiers.
