SMX Corp. is offering a new generation of laser-based coordinate measuring machines developed specifically for 3-D measurement of large-scale objects. The Tracker4000 can measure objects from one to hundreds of meters in size, with an accuracy of 25 µm at 5 m. Combining angular encoders with laser ranging sensors, the device measures X, Y and Z positions in any user-defined coordinate system at a rate of 1000 measurements per second. Applications include surface contouring, alignment and machine metrology.
