The Ensemble Epaq released by Aerotech Inc. is a next-generation stand-alone motion controller for lab experimentation, general-purpose positioning and advanced OEM systems. It provides up to six axes of motion control in one integrated package and can daisy-chain three extra drives so the user can control up to nine axes of coordinated motion. The user also can mix and match drive types. Multiple Epaqs can be controlled from one Windows PC via an Ethernet or USB interface. Brushless servo, DC brush servo and microstepping drives are integrated into the system’s compact frame. Standard on each axis of the I/O are one 16-bit ±10-VDC analog input, a dedicated home market input, over-travel limits, Hall inputs for motor commutation and E-Stop input.
