Point Grey Research Inc. has unveiled the Firefly MV, a small IEEE-1394 digital camera with external trigger and strobe functionality. Based on the Micron MTV9V022 1/3-in. CMOS sensor with global shutter, the camera produces high-quality 640 × 480-pixel images at a rate of 60 fps and is available in color and monochrome models. It features a 10-bit digitizer, auto and manual gain and shutter control, high sensitivity in the near-IR, in-field firmware upgrades, and 2 × 2 binning for faster frame rates and better signal-to-noise ratios. A license to the FlyCapture software development kit is included.
