Electrophysics_EmeraldLR.jpgA thermal imaging system for long-range surveillance, tracking and target signature analysis has been unveiled by Electrophysics. The Emerald LR has a mercury-cadmium-telluride large-format focal plane array with 650 × 512 pixels that produces an infrared image at full TV resolution. It operates in the 3- to 5-μm region, and its sub-25-mK noise-equivalent temperature difference enables detection of objects at a range of up to 25 km. The motorized optical element can be automatically or manually focused to provide fields of view at 22° × 16° wide, 6.6° × 5.2° medium and 1.7° × 1.3° narrow.
