Intertronics has released the OPT 5053-F, a two-component, low-viscosity heat-curing epoxy suitable for high-temperature applications. An improved and fast cure version of OPT 5053, the adhesive is suitable for fiber optic terminating, where optical fibers are “pot polished” into connectors of ferrules. Part of the Opti-tec product line, it offers a glass transition temperature of >100 °C and color change upon cure, from clear to deep translucent red. It provides high surface energy, impact and thermal shock resistance, low skin sensitivity and a pot life of 4 h at 23 °C. Available in bulk or twin packs, it is compliant with Telcordia GR-326-Core standards.
