The Spot RT3 launched by Diagnostic Instruments is a FireWire digital microscope camera that is available in monochrome, color and user-selectable color/monochrome slider models. Effective differential cooling of –43 °C suppresses dark current to less than 0.003 e/s to accommodate long-exposure fluorescence applications. The company says that the 14-bit-readout camera offers a twentyfold reduction in dark current, 25% lower read noise, higher sensitivity, greater dynamic range and triple the acquisition speed of its predecessor. Spot imaging software is included.
