IRVINE, Calif., JULY 7, 2006 -- Toshiba Teli America has introduced two new industrial imaging
solutions, the CMOS-based CSB1100CL-10 and the CS6910F, which comes
equipped with a Super CCD.
The CSB1100CL-10 was designed to
provide machine vision engineers with an economical, high-performance
alternative to more expensive CCD-based monochrome cameras, Toshiba
Teli said.
Based on a 1.3 megapixel CMOS progressive scan
sensor, the CSB1100CL-10 has a razor sharp 1240 x 1024 resolution and
22 fps capture rate on fast-moving subjects. According to the company,
it is an ideal solution in a variety of challenging machine vision
applications, including factory automation, OCR/DCR reading, inspection
and quality control. In addition to delivering excellent resolution,
the CMOS sensor heightens the camera's spectral response and raises its
signal-to-noise ratio to 47 dB.

To save the operator time and money, the CSB1100CL-10
also incorporates the CameraLink interface for digital 10-bit output.
The interface assures interchangeability of the CSB1100CL-10 with other
CameraLink products utilizing a common connector, cable and pin
assignment.
The CSB1100CL-10 also features Toshiba Teli's
patented windows of interest capability, which allows up to 16 areas
within a screen to be set by the user, resulting in dramatically
increased frame rates suitable for extreme high-speed processing. Areas
are read out by designating horizontal and vertical addresses.
Other
features of the CSB1100CL-10, which is available now, are global
shutter mode that exposes all pixels simultaneously with little or no
blurring, random trigger shutter mode and a wide dynamic range to
capture both high- and low-intensity subjects at the same time despite
a large difference in contrasts.
Toshiba Teli also announced
it is shipping the new CS6910F, a next generation FireWire digital
camera that uses a honeycomb-style Super CCD to achieve SXGA (1280 x
960) resolution images at up to 30 fps.
When going
head-to-head with traditional CCDs, the CS6910F's 1/4 in.
progressive-scan Super CCD provides superior color fidelity, greater
sensitivity and improved dynamic range while delivering high-quality
digital video streams to a host PC, the company said. This translates
into lower error rates and speeds across a wide range of color-based
factory automation and image measurement applications.
Other
features include random trigger shutter, electronic shutter (1/15,000
to 8 sec.), and multiple video formats. Ruggedly built for industrial
environments, it sports compact dimensions (44 mm x 29 mm x 65 mm),
minimal weight (160 g), and the use of universal C-mount lenses.
