Coherent Inc. has released the Paladin Compact, an all-solid-state next-generation UV laser that produces high-power quasi-CW output at 355 nm in light-loop operation. It delivers 2 W of output at a repetition rate of 120 MHz and offers a choice of air- or water-cooling. The laser head measures 60 × 25 × 25 cm. It is suitable for use by OEMs and systems integrators in the microelectronics, bioinstrumentation and graphic arts industries. Other applications include high-throughput flow cytometry, computer-to-plate direct imaging in the printing industry, laser direct imaging of printed circuit boards and inspection of bare and structured semiconductor wafers. It offers hands-free operation and is cleanroom-manufactured using PermAlign solder-bonded optics.
