An IEEE-1394b digital camera has been launched by Point Grey Research Inc. for use in machine vision applications. The Flea2 measures 29 × 29 x 30 mm and operates at 80 fps with VGA quality. Based on 1/3-in. CCD sensors, it produces 640 × 480-pixel-resolution images at up to 80 fps and 1024 × 768 images at 30 fps. Features include on-camera color processing, auto-sync among multiple Flea2 cameras, external trigger and strobe output, 2 × 2 binning, in-field firmware upgrades and the FlyCapture software developer’s kit. Monochrome and color models are available.
