oSAPPH Meller Optics Inc.'s custom fabricated sapphire front surface optics, designed for industrial, medical, environmental, chemical and high vacuum instrumentation applications, combine high clarity and toughness. Providing flatness to l/10 in the visible and <2 arcsec/in. in parallelism, these optics transmit up to 85% from the UV to IR uncoated and up to 99% when supplied with antireflective coatings on two sides. Insoluble in water, common acids and alkalis to about 1000 °C, they exhibit a Moh 9 surface hardness.
