Comprising individually controllable red, true green and blue chips, the device simplifies circuit design. Each of the chips drives a 20-mA current. Viewing angle is 120°, and a wide variety of colors can be generated by color mixing. The 3.2 × 3.0 × 1.7-mm package is encased in silicone for extended lifetime, and the top surface is printed black for enhanced contrast. Applications include backlighting and full-color displays.
