Varioptic SA has expanded its Arctic series of variable focus lenses with the release of its SMIA-compliant Arctic 416 version. Measuring 7.75 × 1.6 mm, the autofocus lenses are suitable for use in low-footprint camera modules, including slim camera phones. They have a 1/4-in. optical format and a focus range from 6 cm to infinity. Time to focus is 300 ms, and maximum power consumption is 200 μA.
