Voxtel-Inc.gifVoxtel Inc. has added a 200-μm InGaAs avalanche photodiode (APD) to its line of photon-detection products, which includes 25- and 75-μm versions. The model VDA-IACX-XA delivers suitable sensitivity for high-bandwidth applications, offering low avalanche noise (keff <0.18) and high quantum efficiency over the 0.9- to 1.7-μm spectral response range, including eye-safe wavelengths greater than 1.3 μm. The company says that the device provides better responsivity than PIN detectors and conventional avalanche photodiodes. It is available in a hermetically sealed four-pin TO-46 package, which comes with a broadband, double-sided, antireflection-coated flat window, a 1550-nm filter, or a lensed cap. Applications include ladar/lidar, rangefinding and free-space optical communications.
