Yokogawa Europe BV announces the availability of the AQ7270 fiberXplorer series miniature optical time-domain reflectometers. Suitable for use in the installation and maintenance of core, metro and access networks, including fiber-to-the-home and passive optical networks, the devices combine high-speed operation and <80-cm dead zones, enabling multiple event detection even when events are closely spaced. The 11 models in the series each test up to four wavelengths: 850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550, 1625 and 1650 nm are available. They work with single- or multimode fibers with FC, SC or universal connectors, and offer a pulse width of 3 ns to 20 μs, a minimum sampling resolution of 5 cm and a dynamic range of up to 40 dB. The instruments measure 287 × 182 × 75 mm, weigh 2.9 kg and feature 8.4-in. high-luminance LCDs.
