National Instruments Corp. has expanded its line of PCI Express-based frame grabbers to include models that support IEEE-1394b, Gigabit Ethernet and Camera Link. The PCIe-8255R provides image acquisition from both IEEE-1394a and -1394b cameras. Suitable for industrial inspection and machine vision applications, the device combines an IEEE-1394 host adapter and digital input/output technology. The PCIe-8231, which is suitable for security and monitoring applications, enables acquisition of images from more than 100 m away while using a small fraction of the computer’s CPU. The PCIe-1427 provides low-cost image acquisition for base configuration Camera Link-based imagers and offers bandwidths of up to 225 MB/s. Each frame grabber includes the company’s Vision Acquisition software.
