An embedded controller card for beam control and positioning in laser marking systems has been unveiled by Lanmark Controls Inc. The LEC-1 operates as a stand-alone controller in systems running jobs generated with WinLase LAN laser and scanning control software. The compact card has Ethernet connectivity and does not require a PC. It runs from a ±15- to 24-V scan head supply and features onboard digital and analog laser power control, XY2-100 and direct analog galvo servo outputs, a video and touch-panel digital interface, two USB ports, an RS-232 interface for operator pendants, eight input/output ports, four dedicated interlock inputs and mark-on-the-fly communications.
