ZnS Multispectral Optics for High-Power 1.0-µm Lasers

Water-clear zinc sulphide multispectral (MS) optics by II-VI Infrared are ideally suited to high-power 1.0-µm laser systems, and offer myriad advantages over traditional fused silica optics. Like II-VI Infrared’s world-renowned ZnSe optics, ZnS MS optics are diamond-turnable, and capable of being machined into aspheres, faceted beam integrators, and other advanced optical surfaces. Their higher index of refraction means lower spherical aberration for lenses. And greater thermal conductivity means less thermal lensing, enhanced focal length, and working distance stability. ZnS MS is II-VI Infrared’s own ZnS that has been post-deposition treated by a hot isostatic press process. Under intense heat and pressure, defects within the crystal lattice are virtually eliminated, leaving a water-clear material with minimal scatter and high transmission characteristics from 0.4 to 12 µm. This material is particularly well suited for high-performance single aperture systems that must perform across a broad wavelength spectrum.
