Polytec Inc. has released a measurement services program that provides noncontact vibration and topography measurements to engineers who occasionally require this service, reducing their need for equipment purchase or additional manpower. With the program, test macro- and microstructures are characterized with equipment such as 1- and 3-D scanning laser vibrometers, single-point vibrometers, microstructure (MEMS) motion analyzers and topography measurement systems. The technology works on most surface finishes, eliminates mass loading, improves data accuracy, and minimizes contact transducer mounting, wiring and signal conditioning. The vibrometer systems characterize structures that vibrate up to 30 m/s or 30 MHz, with down to picometer resolution.
