LunaTech.jpgLuna Technologies has announced the Optical Backscatter Reflectometer (OBR) 4400. The optical time-domain reflectometer locates, diagnoses and troubleshoots problems in splices, breaks, connectors, bends and hot spots in fiber optic components and assemblies. In addition, the system’s integrated distributed sensing ability transforms standard telecom-grade fiber into a distributed strain and temperature sensor with applications in component manufacturing, installation and maintenance testing. It has a range of up to 2 km, sensitivity of –130 dB, a 70-dB dynamic range, micron resolution at up to 150 m and ±0.05-dB insertion loss resolution. The system is configured with an internal tunable laser source and a laptop.
