TAMPA, Fla., July 27, 2007 -- StellarNet Inc. has developed what it said is a "super range" concave-grating spectrometer for the UV-VIS-NIR (ultraviolet/visible/near-infrared) range from 200-1100 nm.
An aberration-corrected concave grating provides superb imaging and top spectral efficiency with unique dual blaze technology for UV and NIR wavelengths, the company said.
The spectrograph contains no mirrors to minimize stray light while the flat field grating delivers a uniform focus on the detector for ~1-nm resolution, according to the company. The instrument connects directly to a PC’s USB port and includes SpectraWiz software.
A 2048-element CCD detector is standard with 3600-element PDA optional. The optical input is via fiber-optic cable with SMA-905 termination. The instrument is designed to be vibration tolerant with no moving parts or detector sockets, suitable for portable or industrial process stream applications including remote sensing or standard test and analysis, according to StellarNet. Up to eight units may be daisy-chained via USB-2.0 hubs, allowing simple configurations for dual and multibeam process applications.
StellarNet said the spectrometer retails for $3500 with the customer's choice of 14-, 25-, 50-, 100-, or 200-µm slit, and is available in two ranges: the C-SR (200-1080 nm) and the CXR-SR (220-1100 nm). It makes an ideal OEM component for application-specific analytical instrumentation used in process control or quality control monitoring, the company said.
The included SpectraWiz operating software acquires and displays the spectral data in real time for absorbance, transmittance (or reflectance), and emission (or irradiance), StellarNet said. LabView programs are also included; additional software is available for process control, neural networks, PLS, and color quality control.
