An uncooled fiber-coupled laser module that offers up to 8 W of output power at the 915-nm pump wavelength has been unveiled by Lumics GmbH. The LU0915T080 features a 105/125-μm multimode fiber. Applications include pumping ytterbium fiber lasers and fiber amplifiers. The device uses the company’s chip generation, which offers >60% electrical-to-optical power conversion efficiency. It has a 22 × 11-mm footprint, which includes a 2.7-mm screw hole for mounting to a heat sink. The module also is available in 808-, 940- and 975-nm wavelengths.
