Xenon Corp.’s CoolCureXL InterWeave is a UV-curing system that uses pulsed UV light to provide cool curing in continuous processes such as wood- and powder-coating and digital- and narrow-web printing, running at up to 30 fpm. It has two lamps that deliver the UV light, a 3-kW power supply and a controller that allows both lamps to be pulsed at the same rate, maximizing the conversion of energy into UV light. The system delivers 13 J per pulse at 200 pulses per second. It provides instant on/off control, <300-μs pulses, fast cycle times, deep penetration and process flexibility. The system consumes up to 80% less energy and produces less heat than do CW mercury UV systems.
