The 81- and 82SL series 1310-nm eight- and 16-channel, respectively, contact closure systems manufactured by American Fibertek Inc. are available in single- and multimode configurations and do not require soldering. They are used with the company’s Afinety firmware-driven monitoring systems to access the status of any proprietary digital fiber optic system and any connected cameras via a standard Web browser. Both series have a response time of 5 ms and an operating temperature from –40 to 75 °C. A user-selectable feature maintains the contact status through power cycles and through losses of optical power, and a reset button clears all contact status to the default state.
