HE Series LCD Controllers

MORGAN HILL, Calif., Sept. 19, 2007 -- Digital View has introduced the HE series of LCD controllers, designed to comply with the strict standards required for the harsh environments encountered in military and rugged industrial applications.

The HE-1400 and HE-1600 series COTS (commercial off the shelf) controllers are designed specifically to aid manufacturers building hardened LCD display systems for military and industrial applications, the company said.

DigitalViewLCDControllers.jpgBoth controllers feature wide-tolerance power supplies (12 VDC ± 25%), locking connectors and low-mass tantalum capacitors for maximum tolerance to shock and vibration, military-specification silicon resin conformal coatings, laboratory-certified operating temperature ranges of -40 ºC to +80 ºC, and calculated MTBF (mean time between failures) in excess of 150,000 hours (HE-1600) and 200,000 hours (HE-1400). Both are RoHS compliant.

The HE-1400 series is a small footprint (4.2 in. x 3.6 in.), highly integrated controller with DVI and ARGB inputs. It supports both LVDS and TTL panels and is capable of supporting 4:3 format panels at up to SXGA resolution and 6:9 panels at up to WXGA resolution.

The HE-1600 series is a fully buffered, multisync interface controller providing direct analog and digital connection to a wide range of thin-film transistor panels up to UXGA resolution. Its flexible port architecture provides inputs for DVI, dual VGA channels, composite video, S-video and component video across both 4:3 and 16:9 format panels.

The HE-1600 supports the company's proprietary serial-port protocol, enabling all controller functions and parameters to be controlled via a built-in RS232 serial port. A subset of Digital View's serial port protocol is available for the HE-1400.

A range of accessories are available, including audio amplifier, inverter interface board, on-screen display (OSD) button board, OSD membrane kits and infrared remote control. Digital View also offers a range of customization options for OEMs, including custom hardware and software product variations, documentation control and revision histories and extended product lifetime programs with EOL component management to prevent product obsolescence. Both HE series controllers come with a three-year warranty.

Pricing for the controllers is $110 for the HE-1400 and $180 for the HE-1600 in 1000-piece quantities. Both are available via the company's distribution network; delivery is off the shelf.
