Process_Photonics.gifProcess Photonics Inc. has introduced a moving probe system for laser trimming and testing of electronic circuit boards. RapiTrim is a fixtureless system in which all probing and trimming are fully programmable. Each of the four probes as well as the galvanometer-located laser beam has access to the entire 50 × 50-mm scanning field, accommodating any component location, size, orientation and density. Probe fields are tiled together via the X-Y stages. Resistance is measured in real time by a high-speed A/D converter, and the system operates at up to 50 test points per second. Single- and double-plunge and L-cuts are available. Minimum test pad size is 200 μm for single tip and 400 μm for double. Typical trimmed resistor distribution is <1%.
