PI (Physik Instrumente) LP has released the M-122, a palm-top-size precision translation stage with a ballscrew drive and an optical linear encoder. It has a travel range of 25 mm and dimensions of 60 × 86 × 20 mm. Using cross-roller bearings, it reaches speeds up to 20 mm/s and makes movements with 0.1-μm resolution. Typical applications include metrology, quality assurance testing, micromachining, photonics packaging and fiber positioning.
