Vescent-Photonics.jpgVescent Photonics Inc. has launched the D2 series distributed feedback laser, a modular turnkey system that includes a laser module and controller, a spectroscopy module and locking electronics. The laser has a wavelength of 780.24 nm, a power range of 30 to 50 mW and a typical beam diameter of 1.1 mm. Its polarization is horizontal, and it has an optical isolation of 35 dB. With stable tuning over the entire rubidium hyperfine spectrum, the system provides an output power of 40 mW and a 1-MHz linewidth; it operates in either peak or side lock mode. The device, which measures 3.75 × 4 × 2 in., is designed for atom trappers and others who need a stable absolute wavelength reference.
