NorthrupGrummanSyn.jpgNorthrop Grumman Corp. Synoptics offers composite solid-state laser rods, plates and slabs in YAG, ceramic YAG, YLF and YVO4. It produces bonded solid-state laser parts from Nd:YAG, Er:YAG and CTH:YAG, each either end-capped or edge-clad with undoped YAG. Available also are Nd:YLF-YLF bonded rods and Nd:YVO4-YVO4 composites. The bonded composite YAG rods meet Synoptics Optolase specifications, with wavefront distortion of <λ/16 per inch and an extinction ratio of >25 dB. They feature high strength characteristics, >445 MPa average (four-point bend test, mean strength); birefringence of <5 nm/in.; high thermal shock resistance; and optical loss of <0.5% above Fresnel.
