SensL has unveiled the PCEdu-1 miniature photon-counting system for photon-counting education and training in academic and industrial settings. The device, which comes in a compact T08 package mounted on a printed circuit board, features a 400- to 900-nm spectral range, a 20-mm active area and 130-ps jitter. Suitable for applications in which timing resolution is important, the company’s quenching architecture enables state-of-the-art timing jitter and minimal after-pulsing. The sensor, based on shallow-junction Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode technology, is mounted on a Peltier cooler for temperature-variation experiments.
