ETTLINGEN, Germany, Dec. 4, 2007 -- Vision Components said the sensor technology in its new VC4067 EXview smart camera enables it to analyze even long wavelength light near the infrared spectrum, ensuring very precise image recording.

The VC4067 Exview is based on a Sony EXview HAD CCD sensor and qualifies for use in applications requiring high light sensitivity, e.g. monitoring tasks, the company said.

ExView.jpgThe 2/3-in. CCD sensor has a 1280 x 1024 pixel resolution and provides a maximum frame rate of 14 fps. Featuring an integrated 400-MHz processor from Texas Instruments, the VC4067 EXview has a computing power of 3200 MIPS (million instructions per second). It executes even complex image processing routines, rendering additional PCs unnecessary, according to Vision Components.

Standard camera models are equipped with 4-MB Flash EPROM and 32-MB DRAM for program and picture storage, which can be optionally extended with a 128-MB SD card. The camera also comes with an RS232 and an Ethernet interface and an external trigger input that enables jitter-free image recording even at high reading frequencies.

Standard equipment also includes four digital PLC inputs and four outputs. An external monitor can be connected to the camera's integrated SVGA video output for maintenance and testing purposes.
