LedEngin Inc. has unveiled the LZ4-00MA10 10-W LED emitter, which contains individually addressable red, green, blue and amber dies in a 7.0 × 7.0 × 4.1-mm package. Offering high luminous flux density and thermal resistance of 3 °C/W, the device produces millions of colors as well as any color temperature or hue of white with an enhanced color rendering index. Depending on the target color temperature, index values approaching 90 are achievable. Based on testing, the company projects that the device will deliver, on average, 90% lumen maintenance at 100,000 h at a forward current of 700 mA. The surface-mount ceramic package incorporates a glass lens.
