fCLEAVER Fiber Optic Center Inc. now has in stock the Oxford AFC-2008 angled fiber cleaver, which the company says requires no training and minimal skill for the single operation of the cleave. Each cleaver, used for 125-µm single-mode and phase- modulation fibers, has a scale for accurate cleave lengths. The multiposition diamond blade's typical angle is 8.3°, reducing backreflection as well as stress on the fiber. Suitable for field use and for lab work, the cleaver measures 3 x 2.5 x 2 in. and weighs 1.2 lb.
