Heidenhain-Corp.jpgHeidenhain Corp. has expanded its line of modular magnetic encoders with the ERM 2400 series, which features a more compact size for a broader range of applications, such as in spindles for milling machines. The devices consist of a scanning head and scale drum assemblies. Capable of enduring high rotational speeds, the scale drum of the ERM 2404 has a continuous centering collar on its inner circumference and a frictional connection. Besides the centering collar, the scale drum of the ERM 2405 has feather-key slots on its inner circumference to prevent unintentional rotation. The ERM 2480 scan heads are offered with radial or axial cable outlets, with a 1-V peak-to-peak interface.
