Diode Lasers Produce Pulse Power of 300 W

Jenoptik.jpgFor pumping of solid-state lasers and for print and medical applications, Jenoptik Laserdiode GmbH has launched its JOLD-x-QPNN-1L and JOLD-x-QPFN-1L passively cooled quasi-CW diode lasers at 808 nm. For pulse durations of up to 300 μs and duty cycles up to 10%, the peak power can be as high as 300 W without collimation and up to 270 W after collimation.

Four versions are offered, each with centre wavelength variation of 5 nm at 25 °C, 3-nm FWHM typical spectral bandwidth, and typical and maximum threshold currents of 17 and 22 A, respectively. Maximum pulse length for all is ≤0.3 ms. Typical and maximum operation currents are 275 and 290 A. For the QPNN models, typical fast axis divergence at FWHM is 35°; at 86% it is 50°, and at 95% it is 66°.

Typical slope for the QPNN models is 1.20 W/A, with 1.05 W/A minimum. For the 270-W QPFN model, slope is 1.05 and 0.95 W/A; for the 225-W QPFN, 1.10 and 0.90 W/A. Operating conditions for both require cleanroom Class 100 as well as a noncondensing atmosphere. The device’s operating temperature is from 15 to 30 °C, and its expected lifetime is >1 gigashot. Mounting is via thermally conductive 25- to 100-μm-thick foil on a water-cooled plate or on a thermoelectrically cooled surface.
