The RoHS-compliant Star series heat sinks released by Advanced Thermal Solutions (ATS) Inc. are designed to cool higher-power surface-mount LED packages. The 32 models in the series provide enhanced conductive heat transfer for LED cooling without fans or blowers. The devices cool to more than 60 K at up to 16 W of power dissipation. Constructed from lightweight aluminum, their cylindrical shape fits common LED lamp applications. Their cooling fins are arranged in a round, starlike cross section that optimizes thermal performance via radiative cooling to the local air flow. They are available in lengths of 25, 45, 50 and 75 mm with a standard 45-mm diameter. The black anodized finish provides corrosion resistance and electrical insulation.
