Spectrum Detector Inc. has announced the Trap series digital radiometers and joulemeters that deliver <1% measurement uncertainty on multiple points across the spectrum. Based on wedge Trap concepts pioneered at NIST, the system is contained within a single compact USB-powered probe housing. The user connects the probe to a PC via the USB port. Labview software provides single- and dual-channel measurement ability, powerful automation routines and sophisticated data collection, statistics and graphic presentation. The Trap consists of a large-area black pyroelectric detector opposite a large-area broadband mirror in a 15° wedge configuration that is designed so that 99% of the light passing through the 5-mm aperture is absorbed and measured. The spectral response from 0.25 to 15 μm is flat to 1% or better.
