The near-infrared red-enhanced 5-mm2 ODA-5W-100K combination photodiode-preamplifier released by Opto Diode Corp. offers 500-MΩ gain, low noise and a large active area. High-sensitivity near-IR wavelength response at 940 nm is 63 V/mW, typical, and 55 V/mW minimum. The device is packaged in a hermetically sealed TO-39 can and operates over a temperature range from –25 to 100 °C. Applications include medical diagnostics such as fluorescence and spectroscopy, test and measurement, and others that require <1-mW light detection.
