Laser photocoagulation
Coherent Inc.Request Info
Coherent Inc. has unveiled two optically pumped semiconductor lasers for photocoagulation treatment of wet-form macular degeneration and of diabetic retinopathy. The OPSL-532-5 is a 5-W green laser with output of 532 nm, while the OPSL-577-3 delivers 3 W of yellow output at 577 nm. The wavelength of the latter device is precisely matched to the main absorption peak of oxygenated hemoglobin, thus providing a higher degree of tissue selectivity. The laser technology can be designed to operate at any arbitrary visible or NIR wavelength and output power, and it facilitates modulation of the light intensity, with pulses as short as 10 μs.
