Labsphere.jpgOffering 96 to 98 percent reflectance, the Spectralon and Spectraflect materials and coatings from Labsphere Inc. provide a high level of uniform light integration in light-collection tubes and lightguides used in medical imaging equipment. Their near-Lambertian properties reduce hot spots in coated cavity applications. A high reflectance over the spectral range of 250 to 2500 nm increases optical efficiency while lowering energy consumption. The materials are inert, thermally stable, UV-resistant, and they increase design flexibility. Machined Spectralon can be fabricated into a variety of shapes, and Spectraflect diffuse reflectance material can be spray-coated onto substrates.
