Photron Inc. said its new 4-megapixel Fastcam SA2 high-speed video camera delivers up to 1000 frames per second (fps) at full pixel resolution (2000 x 2000).
Features include a PL lens mount, superior color fidelity, exceptional light sensitivity and crisp image quality, Photron said. Additional speeds and resolutions are available, including high definition 1080p up to 2000 fps, 720p resolution to 4000 fps, and 512 x 416 pixel resolution up to 10,000 fps.
The new 12-bit CMOS camera with a PL lens mount captures high-speed events for slow-motion replay, making it especially suitable for a variety of broadcast applications in sports and entertainment. Other applications include automotive crash testing, ballistic and missile testing, biomedical imaging and industrial motion analysis, the company said.
Photron said the Fastcam SA2 imager can be easily integrated into existing systems via the user-select button on the rear panel or via the Gigabit Ethernet interface. An optional RS422 remote keypad control offers added versatility with a built-in 5-in. LCD color display for viewing slow-motion recording and playback, without the need for an attached computer.
Photron said it is performing live demonstrations of the Fastcam SA2 this week at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas (Booth SL9520).
