illumina.jpgThe iScan system, a high-resolution scanner that supports rapid, sensitive and accurate imaging of the company’s BeadChip-based genetic analysis products, has been released by Illumina Inc. The system uses submicron resolution, assay automation and laboratory information management systems to produce up to 225 million genotypes per day. It has a 1-mm-wide field of view, pixel resolution of 0.54 μm, dual-laser excitation of 532 and 658 nm, and a 5 fluor/μm2 limit of detection for Cy3 or Cy5. Suitable for a broad range of genetic analysis applications, the system provides seamless integration with LIMS, AutoLoader2, a liquid-handling robot, analysis software and other applications.
