Ocean-Optics.jpgThe uncooled Maya2000 and Maya2000Pro miniature spectrometers from Ocean Optics Inc. are suitable for low-light-level applications such as fluorescence, DNA sequencing and Raman analysis. The back-thinned 2-D full-frame-transfer CCD devices offer 90 percent quantum efficiency, high UV response and dynamic range, optical resolution to ∼0.035 nm FWHM, low-noise electronics, 14 grating options, programmable strobe signals (single and continuous), a detector collection lens option for enhanced signal collection, and slits in widths of 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 200 μm. They have a USB 2.0 interface and operate with the SpectraSuite software. The 2000 provides slightly faster readout times, and the 2000Pro, higher dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio.
