Exalos AG has expanded its line of superluminescent light-emitting diodes with the release of the EBS8505, an ultrabroadband light source for use in medical imaging and instrumentation applications. The device offers an FWHM bandwidth of 100 nm, a center wavelength of 850 nm and 5 mW of optical output power in a single-mode fiber, with a spectral ripple of 0.2 dB. The compact turnkey instrument has a touch screen and a USB2 interface.
