WATERLOO, Ontario, May 28, 2008 – Dalsa’s line of Genie GigE Vision-compliant cameras has two new members – the C1410 and the M1410. According to Dalsa, the cameras feature a new high quality, high sensitivity sensor and are specifically designed for industrial imaging applications in the semiconductor, robotics and traffic control industries.

Traditionally, Genie cameras combine standard gigabit Ethernet technology with trigger-to-image reliability framework that captures and transfers images from camera to the host PC. The new versions, available in both colour (C1410) and monochrome (M1410), run at 22 frames per second and feature a two-thirds inch CCD sensor from SONY (ICX285).

The Genie 1410s are ideal for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications because they are small and highly sensitive. They offer vision system support by automating the monitoring and enforcement of traffic laws, such as stopping at red lights, paying tolls and monitoring speed.

The ITS systems can automatically locate, identify and physically measure a vehicle, and can use optical character recognition to read license plates, which can be very useful when tracking down stolen cars.

Dalsa’s Genie cameras are certified GigE Vision compliant, and are based on the AIA (Automated Imaging Association) GigE Vision Standard to directly link the camera to a PC.  They transmit data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100m allowing for a greater distance between the camera and inspection system.

Additional features include global electronic shutter with exposure control, on-board flat-field correction, and on-board color conversion (used by the colour model) to produce crisp and clear images. The GigE Vision camera acts as a single machine vision component and features a RJ45 screw mount cable connector for robotics applications.
