488-nm laser systems

Toptica.jpgToptica Photonics AG has expanded its iBeam and iPulse diode laser systems with the addition of 488-nm single-mode diodes, which have applications in biophotonics and bioanalytics, particularly in flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and high-throughput and high-content screening. Previously, this wavelength was obtained only by argon gas lasers and frequency-doubled solid-state lasers. The iBeam and iPulse 488 systems have beam quality of M2 <1.2, with wavefront error <0.05 λ and typical single-mode fiber-coupling efficiency of >75 percent. They achieve a power level of approximately 5 mW, have high power stability and can be coupled to single-mode fibers by the company’s FiberDock unit. The iPulse 488 system provides ultrafast asynchronous pulse modulation up to 250 MHz.
