Leukos.jpgLeukos has unveiled the SP-8- and SP-20-OEM, supercontinuum sources offering white-light emission from the UV to the near-IR, with single-mode spatial beam quality and subnanosecond pulses.

The compact devices address OEM applications in biology and medicine, such as high-resolution imaging and diagnostic techniques, optical coherence tomography, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry. In metrology applications, they are used for evaluation of the broadband characterization of optical components with respect to transparency, dispersion, birefringence or fibre cutoff wavelength.

The sources use new-generation optical fibres, enabling extreme confinement of the electromagnetic field and high frequency-conversion efficiency via nonlinear effects. The interaction of the light delivered by a high-power pump laser with the fibre material permits generation of a multitude of wavelengths (via a supercontinuum) from the ultraviolet to the infrared. The desired spectral band and the spatial profile of the fibre output beam can be adapted to the targeted applications.

The output spectral bandwidth spans 370 to 1750 nm and beyond, and the spatial profile is single-mode (LP11 mode in the visible range). Total average power (visible to IR) is >15 or >65 mW, depending on the model. Two versions offering a repetition rate of 8 or 20 kHz are available. The pulse width is <1.2 ns for both.
