baumer.jpgBaumer Optronic GmbH has announced new cameras for a variety of industrial applications. The TXG series models each have a Gigabit Ethernet interface that provides a high data rate and image transmission over cables up to 100 m long.

The colour and monochrome cameras use Sony progressive-scan interline-transfer CCD sensors of various formats, with resolutions ranging from 656 × 494 up to 2448 × 2050 pixels. Full-frame output rates vary from 90 fps for the lowest-resolution camera to 15 fps. With binning, these change to 166 and 30 fps, respectively. On most versions, the global shutter speed is 4 μs to 60 s, and there is an asynchronous trigger to instigate image capture in response to an external event. Typical dynamic range is >54 dB, and the 12-bit analog-to-digital converter and 2 × 2 binning capability ensure high-quality data output. The 5-megapixel TXG50 has a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter, and its longest shutter exposure is 2 s.

The cameras are small and rugged, measuring 36 × 36 × 48 mm and weighing ~90 g. Most models consume about 4 W. The company’s programming interface, called Baumer-GAPI, ensures compatibility with other software.
